A Publisher is Reading Sunday's Child

Well, I’ve finally convinced a publisher to read my entire manuscript. Before you start jumping up and down, in an effort to warn me of the obvious pitfalls of daring to hope in this fickle industry – let me say that I’m aware of this.

How can I not hope though? After all, it’s only human nature to have a sudden rush of expectant energy, as soon as there is faint flicker, heralding the birth of light in the far horizon. This is true, especially if the very thing you’ve been hoping for, has on previous occasions, slipped out of your grasp before you could even secure it in both your palms.

For obvious reasons, I cannot say which publisher it is, but they’re very interested in stories set in third world countries, and tales of people fighting for survival in the cumulus clouds of adversity. I was told that it would take them at least twelve weeks to get back to me, then if they’re willing to go with my work, it would be May 2010 before my book is published.

For me this is not a problem, because this will give me a chance to work on the four other book projects that I’ve got stalled at different stillbirth stages of their existence.

So, even though I’m not putting all my hopes in this new development, I am allowing myself a little time to feel good about it. After all, I haven’t even got a literary agent (but we already know that they don't exist and many publishers refuse to read your work without one.

Wish me luck!

This is such good news. I keep my fingers crossed for you. Any decent publisher should know what a prize they have in their hands. LOL
